For someone with an intellectual disability, a career can offer greater financial independence, higher self-esteem, more meaningful relationships and a better quality of life. D.E.S.I. offers a variety of employment services for clients with Autism and other intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Competitive Integrated Employment

Unlike segregated job training programs, the goal of D.E.S.I. is Competitive Integrated Employment. Competitive Integrated Employment, or CIE, means that a person is gainfully employed in a position paying minimum-wage or higher. Work is performed in non-segregated settings alongside non-disabled peers. Clients should have the same ability to advance as their co-workers, and receive equal benefits and compensation.

Workforce Development

Together with our key community partnerships-- including WorkSource Centers, regional Chambers of Commerce, Corporate Employers, The East LA Regional Center and the South Central LA Regional Center -- we can expand upon our results-driven job creation engine, and continue to bring new jobs to East and Southeast Los Angeles County.
