Antonio Moran Scholarship

Antonio Moran was an optimistic, fun loving, motivated, young man from East Los Angeles. He had a love for life and for learning. This love led him to East Los Angeles College where he took courses for three semesters. He was an active member in the Disabled Students Center and had dreams of graduating college and having a family of his own one day. Antonio had a strong commitment to civic duty, he volunteered two day s a week at Salazar Park in East Los Angeles to keep the park clean and ready for the community.

This scholarship has been created in his memory to find individuals that share his passion, commitment to their community and motivation to better themselves through Education.

Applicant Criteria

  • Enrolled in the disabled student program services at your university/college
  • Be enrolled at least part time at an accredited College, University, or Trade School during the Spring 2021 Semester/Quarter.
  • Applicants must complete the application by clicking the apply now button below and submit their personal essay within the application.


5 awards in the amount of $1000 will be presented by Designated Exceptional Services for Independence to students after adjudication of submitted essays that meet the deadline.

Personal Essay Prompt:

Submit a one-page typed essay (.docx or .pdf only) that describes why you have chosen to pursue an associate or bachelor's degree in your chosen field of study. How will this scholarship help you achieve your goals?
